Below is the first of 7 Church Work Days
Church work day 2 of 7
We had to tear down the weeds and rake everything into a pile and burn it.
You can see the playground towers need paint and repairs. They were painted around three years ago. The wind and sand tear the paint off.
Fred and Gloria Messick (Center) came to see how we were coming along with the playground. On the left is Carol who is part of the Messick’s team and her brother Ernie (Far right).
Before fencing in playground area.
We had to remove huge cement slabs that were in the way.
We used the backhoe to bury them.
Finally, the first piece goes in.
The playground is now sitting on ground ready to be installed.
This is our worship team. We went to play at the retirement home in Chinle on Mother’s day. The group you see here run the Kid’s Church (With the help of several more that are not in the picture).
Below: We got a skid steer so we can prepare the property and get the area ready for the playground.
Patched up the road with the stones that were taken out of the playground area.

Work Day 4 of 7 - Fence Around Playground Area
The goal is to put a fence around the playground area so we have more control. The playground area will be for younger children.
Work Day 5 of 7 Finishing the fence posts.
Below are pictures of Dr. Juan and his crew that came up from Buckeye, AZ Not only did they clean up everything, but they helped us prepare for more kids. They reconstructed our stage to make it more efficient.
Fence post installed around playground area.
Daven brought his tractor and smoothed it out.
Below are pictures of us getting ready for July 6th
We had to build a stage in the big building with a huge projector screen and additional lighting. Setting up the water slide involved repairing a broken water faucet. The team has been sacrificing their off days to come and work at the church. Many times the group works at the church for 10 hours before going home.
Below are pictures of games we put together so the kids will have something to play with after Kid’s Church.
Several cement blocks needed to be removed from the playground area before the new playground could be installed.
Week 7 - Finishing What We Can
and Cleaning up.
The backhoe left it rough.
We unloaded a donation of Astroturf from an old football field. We laid it out so we could inventory it. The Astroturf has 2” rubber padding that goes underneath.
We inspected the playground towers and removed the old swingset because it was rotted.
It looks like we have to do repairs to the playground towers. Next week we will install fencing to enclose the playground. This week we will be using a skidsteer to dig down a few inches in preparation for the Astroterf. In a few weeks the new playground should be up and we will start placing the Astroterf under it.
Church Work Day 3 of 7 - Cancelled because of weather.
2nd piece.
